The Mid-Day Meal Scheme was first introduced in India on 15th August 1995 by the Government of India under the Ministry of Education. Initially launched in government and government-aided primary schools, the scheme has now been extended to upper primary and high school levels in various states. This initiative supports students’ physical health, enhances their ability to learn, and encourages regular school attendance. The motto of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme is “Shikshit Bharat, Sashakt Bharat”, which translates to “Educated India, Empowered India”, reflecting the belief that proper nutrition is essential for meaningful education and national development. The program also aims to promote social equality, as children from all backgrounds eat together, breaking social and economic barriers.
The school has a well-maintained and hygienic dining room where nutritious meals are served to students every day. Meals are prepared following strict safety and cleanliness standards, with a focus on providing a balanced diet that includes rice, pulses, seasonal vegetables, and occasionally fruits or milk. The dining area is spacious, clean, and equipped with proper seating arrangements to ensure comfort and order during mealtime. Regular monitoring is conducted by school staff to ensure food quality, cleanliness, and proper serving practices. The Mid-Day Meal scheme not only contributes to the physical well-being of students but also plays a significant role in promoting social equality, as students from diverse backgrounds dine together in a spirit of harmony and shared community. This initiative reflects the school’s commitment to the holistic development of every child, supporting both health and education.
