PM SHRI GIC Tarpalisain

PM SHRI Schools is a centrally sponsored flagship scheme launched by the Government of India aimed at transforming more than 14,500 existing schools across the country into model schools. These schools are managed by Central Government, State/UT Governments, local bodies, including Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS). The initiative is grounded in the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and seeks to provide high-quality education in an inclusive, equitable, and tech-integrated environment.
The scheme ensures that every child enrolled in a PM SHRI school feels safe, valued, welcomed, and motivated to learn. These schools will feature well-developed infrastructure, including smart classrooms, science and computer labs, libraries, sports facilities, and green campuses. Emphasis will be laid on foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), experiential learning, and the integration of vocational education at all levels.
Teachers in PM SHRI schools will be trained in innovative pedagogy, digital tools, and inclusive practices. The use of technology in teaching-learning, transparent governance, and regular monitoring will help ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
More than 20 lakh students are expected to directly benefit from this scheme. In addition to improving student outcomes, PM SHRI schools will act as lighthouse institutions, sharing best practices and learnings with nearby schools, thereby uplifting the overall standard of education across the country.
The scheme also focuses on environmental consciousness, civic values, and 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. The implementation period of the scheme is from 2022-23 to 2026-27, with provisions for outcome-based funding and periodic assessments.
